Irish Step Dance is a traditional performance dance form that originated in Ireland. It is known for its rapid leg and foot movements while the body and arms remain largely stationary.
Currently the Sisters Dance Academy offers two Irish Step Dance classes for Irish dancers with previous experience:
Intermediate Irish ages 11+
This is the next progression for Irish dancers. Dancers are required to have at least two years of Irish before joining this class. This class will build upon the fundamentals of Irish dance. The class will feature both technique and choreography. This class will be done in “soft shoes” – and for our purposes dancers will use Ghillies and bubble socks.
Irish Hard Shoe ages 11+ Invitation Only
Dancers are required to have at least two years of Irish before joining this class. Hard shoes are used to create beautiful and rhythmic percussions. They are made of black leather with fiberglass heels and taps on the tips of the shoes with a leather strap across the top of the foot. Dancers selected to do hard shoe will be approved by the instructor.
