“Spring: A lovely reminder of how beautiful change can truly be”
As we will soon be heading into spring and anticipating the ground to soften, the weather to warm, and new life to emerge, it is with great anticipation that we welcome a new season. Change can sometimes be difficult and bring about discomfort. As we have seen many changes happen in our world this past year and experienced many difficulties and unease, it is reassuring to me that even the most difficult changes can bring about so much good if you look for it. How GRATEFUL we are to be back in the studio with our dancers – to be teaching them in person has brought great energy back within the studio walls. So much laughter, joy, and the reuniting of friendships has given us a much-needed boost, both teacher and student alike! We continually want to thank you and your family for being a part of our program!

Funny Dancer: One of our 6-year-old students recently recognized the fact that we have the letters SDA on our wall in Studio A. She asked, “Miss Lonnie, why does it say ‘sad’ on your wall?” It was very fun to reassure her that it didn’t read sad but that those proud letters stand for Sisters Dance Academy! Oh, how I love our darling, inquisitive students!

SPRING BREAK IS ON ITS WAY!

The studio will be closed from Saturday, March 20th-Sunday, March 28th, 2021 during the Sisters School District’s first week of Spring Break. We will resume our regularly scheduled classes Monday, March 29th, 2021. There will be no need to pro-rate tuition since there are 5 weeks of classes in March.

RECITAL COSTUME FEE DEPOSIT

A $25 costume fee deposit will be due in March and can be included with your March tuition payment. Costume details and total fees will be emailed to your dancer’s individual class during the month of March and the remaining costume balance will be due in April.

SPRING SPOTLIGHT SHOWCASE: INFORMATION TO AUDITION

The date for our Annual Spotlight Showcase is yet to be determined, but we are hoping to schedule a performance date with the High School for mid-April.  The Spotlight Showcase is a beautiful night of dance featuring solos, duos, trios and group competition routines.

All dancers who have prepared a solo, duet or trio that will be going to competition will be performing in this showcase and do not need to audition. Dancers who would like the opportunity to prepare and perform a solo, duet, or trio for the showcase this year will need to audition. Audition day will be on Saturday, April 3rd between 11 am- 12:30 pm. Please contact Lonnie via email to secure an audition time slot.

Here are the qualifications:

  • Dancer(s) needs to be at least eight years old
  • Dancer(s) need to have had at least two years of dance experience
  • Music can be no longer than 2 minutes
  • Music needs to be clean and appropriate for all ages
  • Music needs to be edited (if it needs it) and performance ready for the audition
  • Costuming must be worn during the audition so Lonnie can also approve the costume.

Not all who audition will be invited to perform for the showcase. However, the audition experience is very valuable for any dancer.

IN-STUDIO SPRING PHOTO SHOOT TO BE HELD IN MAY
Our annual in-studio spring photo shoot will be held during your dancer’s normal class time the end of May. We are still working with our photographer to finalize dates, but want you to know we DO plan on having a spring photoshoot this year! We will inform you as soon as we have a date decided upon.

GUIDELINES FOR HAIR AND STUDIO DRESS CODE

Please remember that all hair below the chin must be up for dance class. Buns are required for all ballet classes and ponytails/braids are required for all other classes. Please also be sure your child is attending in the proper class attire with the proper, CLEAN footwear. Not sure what they are supposed to wear? Check out our dress code here.

REFER A FRIEND DISCOUNT
We will be closing enrollment March 13th, but some of our classes still have open spots! If you refer a friend to take a class and they decide to enroll before the deadline, you will be given a $10 discount off of your April tuition! Want to know what classes still have openings? Check out our class offerings here.

March tuition is due starting Monday, March 1st. Costume deposits are due when you pay tuition in March. Timely tuition payments help keep our studio running – thank you!
