Arrive On Time & Ready to Dance:

    1. WATER: bring a water bottle with your name on it! The studio does not have a drinking fountain.
    2. CLOTHING: Wear appropriate, approved dance clothing that follows the dress code
    3. SHOES: Our studio has very special, very delicate, flooring that is made especially for dancing. Please wear appropriate dance shoes that are reserved only for class (not outside). This is particularly true for hip hop sneakers.
    4. HAIR: Hair must be up and away from the face. Buns are required for ballet classes; tight ponytails are required for all other classes

Hair Styles for Class

For each class, longer hair must be pulled away from the face in a tight ponytail, bun, or braid, etc. Buns are required for ballet class (as possible). Dance is a physical activity; think about hairstyles you would wear for running or working out.

Tight Ponytail:

– Video tutorial for a slicked-back ponytail that will stay in place for the entire class. This technique is also used for performances.

Classic Ballet Bun

For class, any style of bun is acceptable, as long as it keeps hair neatly and tightly in place away from the face.

For performances, Miss Lonnie requests a “classic ballet bun,” which lays relatively flat against the head — think cinnamon roll. Hair “donuts” typically add too much bulk that sticks out too far from the head. Use them only for thin or short hair.

Begin with a slicked-back ponytail (tutorial above).
